Trajva is a tribal tattooing style from the Indian region of Gujurat and Sindh. Trajva refers to patterns of dots that were used to create jewel-like motifs on women’s hands, faces, forearms, and shins. This tattoo features an adapted style of trajva using both large and small dots, and the inclusion of piña emboidery motifs from the Philipines to reflect this client’s heritage.
Combination of dense mehndi background filler with bold Tibetan Peony motif.
This chest piece combines several textile motifs found in the client’s Indonesian indigenous heritage. We amalgamated the patterns into a classic composition that could be continued into a full torso piece in the future.
This is one of the few instances of a client requesting true traditional trajva. This less stylized but timeless version was done on fellow tattooer Stuart Teekasingh.
